The Virgin Islands are Even More Amazing by a Private Yacht Charter

by Matthew Johnston

There are few things in this world that can be said to be true paradise, and the Virgin Island is certainly one of them. The islands popular attractions include an amazing coral reef system under the clear waters of the Caribbean, excellent water sport locations, cultural and historical sites that dates back centuries and of course, the hospitality of the Caribbean. The region first came to European attention a few centuries ago and since then it has captivated the minds of all those who were lucky enough to set foot on these amazing islands. The sunny weather and the idyllic sea surrounding the area will really make you feel as if you are in an alternate reality that you thought only existed in storybooks. Half way through your vacation if you have dreams of settling down here and spending your entire life in the calm, soothing environment here, then do not be surprised because you are not the first and you will not be the last. When it comes to exploring the Virgin Island region, then there is only one real option: a motor yacht charter. After chartering the motor yacht Sojourn, I am now convinced that there is no finer boat out there.

Rear of Sojourn YachtThe Virgin Island can be roughly divided into three major regions: the US virgin Island, the British Virgin Island and the Spanish Virgin Island. Believe me, each region has a unique character and an array of sights and sounds that you may not find elsewhere. We began our tour with the British Virgin Island but where you begin, your tour depends entirely on your preferences.

The US Virgin Island consists of two major islands: St. Croix and St. Thomas. As we drifted into the bay onboard the Sojourn, we knew were going to have an amazing time here. There are some fine attractions here including the excellent beaches and some curious wildlife. As we found out, the islands are an excellent spot for some fishing and surfing. All the gear we needed was onboard the Sojourn because we made the necessary arrangements in advance.

We started our tour with the Spanish Virgin Island. This region was completely sealed off by the US navy for decades and was only recently re-opened to civilian boats. When you cruise through here onboard the Sojourn, you will be able to feast your eyes on these virtually deserted islands that have remained uninhabited for decades now.

The other major island is St. Croix, and both these islands feature an amazing array of shops, cafes and quite an active nightlife. Here we decided to try out some fishing and diving with the gear onboard the Sojourn, which can be requested in advance.

Finally yet importantly, we dropped by the British Virgin Island region. This area consists of more than 50 volcanic islands, cays and inlets. Most of the islands here have their own unique character so it would be advisable to do your own research to find the islands that suit you best. There are a number of uninhabited islands as well, so feel free to explore.

Some of the islands that constitute the British Virgin Island include Anegada, Virgin Gorda, Cooper, Dead Chest, Great Camanoe, Norman, Peter and Salt. Some of the islands have some super surfing and fishing spots and we spent quite a bit of time in the water.

Sojourn Yacht deckIn addition, the Sojourn is capable of reaching a top speed of 22 knots and has an economic range of around 3500 miles. In addition, there is plenty of space for six guests and six crewmembers. A virgin island yacht charter is not merely about having an amazing vacation but it is about having an amazing vacation that will remain memorable forever.
